Mesa woman accused of stealing money from casino where she workedPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A federal grand jury in Phoenix returned a one-count indictment Tuesday against Jeraldine Ann Kay, 45, of Mesa, alleging she stole from the casino where she worked.
The indictment alleges that from Sept. 2 through Sept. 16 Kay stole in excess of $1,000 while working as a cashier at the Fort McDowell Casino gift shop. Kay has been summoned to appear in federal court, but no date has been set yet.
She is charged with theft by an officer or employee of a gaming establishment on Indian lands.
A conviction carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison, a $1 million fine or both.
