UPDATE: Body found in field was woman; police ask for help

PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying the body found in a field and locating any possible suspects.

Phoenix police Detective Cindy Scott said the victim is a light-skinned (possibly white) female. She had a medical device in one of her knees, possibly as a result of an injury.

Scott said there is no suspect information at this time.

Anyone who saw any suspicious activity during the early morning hours Thursday, from approximately 2 a.m. to 6 p.m., is asked to call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.


PHOENIX -- Phoenix police are on the scene near 75th Avenue and Buckeye Road where a burned body was found in a field.

Police say a woman was walking in the field about 8:30 a.m. Thursday when she saw something burning. She called the fire department and they found that it was a body.

Investigators don't have a cause of death yet or an identity of the victim.

Phoenix police Detective Cindy Scott said the gender is unknown at this time.
