Domino's Pizza deliveryman shot by would-be carjackerPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A pizza delivery man is in the hospital after an attempted carjacking ending with a shooting.
It happened near 44th Street and Baseline Road in southeast Phoenix Thursday night.
The victim, a 25-year-old Domino's Pizza deliveryman, was shot in the arm and leg. He reportedly was in serious condition Friday morning.
Police say his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
The guy made a delivery at the Brookstone at the Foothills apartment complex at about 10:30 p.m.
He said that as he was leaving, a young Hispanic man approached him, put a gun to his head and demanded his car.
The victim jumped into his car and took off. As he was pulling away, the suspect opened fire.
Realizing he'd been hit, the victim pulled into a QT up the road at 48th Street and Baseline Road.
An attendant who was in the store at the time said the man parked right in front, came inside and told them to call 911.
"He was on the phone with the police department the whole time," said Bre Miles. "So were about ... five other witnesses."
The man was rushed to the hospital.
The suspect is still on the loose. He is described as an Hispanic male between 18 and 22 years old. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt.
