PHOENIX - Two jockeys were injured and a thoroughbred horse is dead following an accident at Turf Paradise.

A park spokesperson tells 3TV the incident took place on Sunday afternoon at the race park in northwest Phoenix.

Officials say one horse suffered a fatal aneurism and went down. The jockey was thrown from the horse and suffered a broken leg.

A second horse reportedly stumbled into the horse that had gone down and a second jockey was thrown. He suffered a broken collar bone.

A third horse in pack was able to jump over the tangled horses. This same horse struck a jockey, breaking that rider's leg.

The accident occurred during the ninth race at Turf Paradise.
