9-Year-old missing since yesterday afternoon found safePosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- The 9-year-old boy who had been missing since Tuesday afternoon came home safe and sound and was reunited with his family Wednesday morning.
The Phoenix Police Department spent the night and early morning hours searching for Dalton Payton Hola in the area of 3200 E. McKinley.
Before this morning, Dalton was last seen playing on his skateboard in front of his house at 3:30 p.m. by his parents and a neighbor child across the street saw him headed east bound, east of 32nd Street at sundown.
Police said there was no history of any disputes between Dalton and his family, which would have lead to him running away. In fact, Dalton recently wrote his parents a note, thanking them for everything they do.
It turns out that Dalton apparently had been at a friend's house and had not asked permission or checked in with his family.
Police and Dalton's parents had been going through a list of the boy's friends all morning.
Searchers had come to the last name on that list, and that's where Dalton was. He was apparently afraid to go home once it got dark Tuesday night, police said.
