Officials warn of flooding in northern ArizonaPosted: Updated:
FLAGSTAFF - The National Weather Service is warning northern Arizonans about possible flooding after about two inches of rain poured across the area.
A flash flood warning was issued in east-central Yavapai County, which includes Cottonwood, until 2:30 p.m. An arroyo and small stream flood advisory was issued for south-central Coconino County until 3:45 p.m.
As much as another two inches of rain are possible.
Additionally, a flash flood warning is in effect for west-central Mohave County until 3 p.m. Weather officials say flooding is occurring or imminent.
Weather official urge drivers to avoid crossing areas where water covers the roadway and to move to higher ground, adding that most flood deaths occur in cars. Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear, and just one foot of flowing water can sweep vehicles off the road.
