Woman sends computer in to be fixed 5 times, but it still doesn't fire up

PHOENIX -- A Valley woman says all she wants is for her laptop computer to work, but she says the manufacturer is brushing her off.

There's nothing more frustrating than your computer acting up.

You know the drill. You sit down, you open up your laptop and you just want to log on. But instead, all you get is that hourglass that spins around and around.

That's what happened to a Valley woman, but she says the company that made the computer can't fix the problem.

Christina Mathias doesn't go a day without using a computer for work so she thought it would be a good idea to get a better, faster computer.

"The sole purpose of buying the computer was so that I could service my clients a lot better," she said.

Mathias purchased a new Acer computer from Wal-Mart and along with that new computer she also bought an extended warranty.

"It was a year warranty and it covered anything that happened to the computer," Mathias said.

But just two weeks after buying that new Acer computer, Mathias says it stopped working.

So, she contacted Acer and they told her to mail the laptop to them.

"I contacted them in reference to it and they told me that it was a glitch in the system," Mathias said. "They said to send it to them and they would fix the glitch."

Mathias eventually got the computer back but says it was still acting up.

In fact, Mathias sent the computer in a total of five different times to Acer and it still doesn't want to fire up.

"The hourglass continues to think and even if you press on any icon, it refuses to do anything," she said.

Fed up, she contacted 3 On Your Side for help.

"I'm literally stuck," she said.

After 3 On Your Side got involved, Acer looked into the issue and decided Mathias had been through enough and mailed her a brand-new computer.

Mathias says she can't believe it. Now, she's back on track and her computer is working just fine.

I'd like to thank Acer for looking into the problem at our request.
