Violent crime down in Phoenix last yearPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX-- The Phoenix metro area saw less violent crime in 2007.
According to FBI crime reports that looked at data from 18 jurisdictions, the number of violent crimes fell by .3 percent. The same is true of property crime.
The biggest decrease in violent crimes was in Paradise Valley, with a 50 percent drop from 2006 to 2007. That same area, however, did see an increase in property crime of slightly more than 3 percent.
While violent crime and property crime were down, there was an increase in reported crime from 2006 to 2007 in about half of the jurisdictions.
