PHOENIX -- Two Roosevelt School District buses collided Thursday afternoon, but none of the students were seriously injured.
The buses were transporting students home from Pastor Elementary School and collided at approximately 1:15 p.m. near 23rd and Southern avenues in Phoenix.
According to police, one school bus was stopped at a stop sign and another bus rear-ended it.
Approximately 60 students were riding the buses, but police say all injuries were minor and consisted mostly of scrapes.
The students were transferred to a third bus to continue on to their bus stops.
"Safety of our students is paramount," said Dr. Mark Dowling, district superintendent. "We are grateful that no one appears to be injured. We are alerting the parents of all students on these buses and monitoring the students to make sure that there are no hidden injuries. We will be investigating the incident further to assure that this was merely an accident."
