Fake grenade prompts Bullhead City airport evacuationPosted: Updated:
BULLHEAD CITY -- A novelty lighter shaped like a grenade forced the evacuation of the passenger terminal at the airport in Bullhead City.
Wednesday's incident was the second of the year at the Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport involving a fake grenade.
Assistant airport director Darryl Thompson says a Transportation Security Administration agent spotted the device while screening a family's carry-on baggage. A police bomb squad was called and determined it was a lighter. The family was allowed to continue on their flight.
An 8-year-old boy tried to carry a novelty grenade onto a flight in January, prompting a similar evacuation.
