UPDATE: One of 2 missing teens located, other still a runaway

Gambino questioned by detectives

The following UPDATE was sent by Peoria Police on Monday, March 2:

PEORIA - On Monday, March 2nd at 2:30 pm Peoria Police detectives responded to Mesa and met with Maria Del Carmen Gambino.

Maria had been staying with some people she had recently met and when they saw her on the TV newscasts they told her to turn herself in and left her at a pay phone where she called her mother.

Maria was picked up by detectives, interviewed and admitted they had met some friends of Gloria's and took off with them for the weekend. She told the detectives that Gloria decided not to return home and had left with her unknown friends. Maria has been reunited with her family and Gloria remains listed as a runaway juvenile.


PEORIA - Police need the public's help locating two teenaged girls who have been reported missing.

Maria Gambino and Gloria Lorenzo, both 15 years old, reportedly disappeared late Friday night.

Police in Peoria tell 3TV they did not return home from school on Friday and were reported missing at about 7:30 that evening.
