PHOENIX - A 6-month-old is in critical condition after slipping underwater in a bathtub on Monday afternoon.
UNCUT: Police on near-drowning in bathtub - An UNCUT interview with a Phoenix Police spokesperson who gives 3TV details on a near drowning involving a 6-month-old baby.
A Phoenix Fire spokesperson tells 3TV the 6-month-old was in the bathtub with a 2-year-old sibling. The mother did not have soap so she went to get it. Police say it is still unknown whether the mother became distracted.
The two childen were in a bathtub in another apartment in the complex. After the near drowning the infant's family took the baby to their apartment unit.
The infant was pulled by the mother out of the bathtub and police say the baby's body was lifeless.
Phoenix Police happened to be in the area and arrived at the scene before the fire department. An officer administered CPR and the infant began to vomit water and start crying.
The baby was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital and is listed in critical condition.
