Hiker describes incredible rescue on Camelback MountainPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Two hikers were rescued from Camelback Mountain Tuesday night after emergency rescue crews received a distress call.
Firefighters brought Anthony Edwards down from the mountain and into the arms of his family who had been waiting for his rescue all night.
Tuesday's heat got to the 22-year-old and his hiking partner, Sean Sullivan. They got stuck in Echo Canyon after they hiked off the trail.
Sullivan climbed the west face of Camelback Mountain to locate rescuers and was brought down first.
Hours later, after he was finally rescued, Edwards said it felt good to be back on the ground.
Rescue crews had to lower a basket from the chopper into the canyon to get Edwards out.
