PHOENIX -- A mother and her boyfriend are being questioned about the death of the woman's 3-month-old baby.

Baby had a skull fracture

It happened Monday night at an apartment in the area of Eighth Street and Bell Road.

According to police, the boyfriend told them that the baby, identified as Aidan Scott Skyler Piurek, had been cranky all day. The boyfriend said he gave the baby a drop of Tylenol and put him down for a nap. When he checked on Aidan 25 to 30 minutes later, he said he noticed the baby wasn't breathing and had a bloody nose.

The boyfriend, who had three friends over at the apartment at the time, reportedly told police that he called 911 and the dispatcher gave him instructions to perform CPR.

Aidan's mother came home while rescuers were working on her baby boy. They all went to the hospital where Aidan was pronounced dead.

Doctors suspicious about the baby's bloody nose performed a CT scan and discovered a skull fracture.

Child Protective Services and homicide detectives were called in.

Both Aidan's mother, who is 22, and her 21-year-old boyfriend, neither of whose names have been released, were taken in for questioning. They have not been arrested at this point.

The investigation is ongoing. Detectives are waiting for the medical examiner's report on the cause of the baby's death.

Aidan's mother has another son -- 5 or 6 years old -- who reportedly was with his grandfather when all of this happened.
