Pregnant woman injured in six-vehicle crash in west PhoenixPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A pregnant woman was injured in a six-car accident at 83rd Avenue and Thomas Road Friday morning.
Phoenix police Detective Cindy Scott said a city of Phoenix Parks and Recreation vehicle and a Chevy Malibu collided at the intersection, causing a six-vehicle crash.
The driver of the Malibu and his girlfriend, who is eight months pregnant, were transported to a Valley hospital.
The Malibu driver's mother told 3TV that her son has a lacerated spleen and broken ribs. She also said that his girlfriend, Tyesha Lollie, gave birth to the baby, who has possible brain damage. Lollie also suffered a broken nose.
Witnesses say the city vehicle ran a red light and smashed into the car, but police did not confirm that.
