Huge pallet fire destroys home, forces evacuations

PHOENIX -- A fire that broke out at a pallet storage facility destroyed one South Phoenix home and sparked the evacuation of nearly two dozen more Sunday afternoon.

60 firefighters from 4 cities called out

Some 60 firefighters from Glendale, Tolleson, Glendale and Avondale were called out to fight the two-alarm fire at 68th Avenue and Adams Street.

Crew had some trouble getting to the fire at first, but they were eventually able to get a handle on it and protect nearby homes.

It's not clear if the evacuated residents have been allowed to return home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
