Phoenix man critical after car hits overpass supportPosted: Updated:
TEMPE -- A Phoenix man was injured when the car he was driving hit a support for a railroad overpass in Tempe.
Shortly before noon on Wednesday, a Ford Mustang was traveling southbound on McClintock Drive south of Apache Boulevard. According to police, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a support for a railroad overpass.
The driver, Charles Laverdure, 30, was transported to a local hospital where he is in critical but stable condition.
There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
Impairment does not appear to be a factor at this time, according to Sgt. Steve Carbajal with the Tempe Police Department.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
