Ex-major leaguer Todd Cruz dies in ArizonaPosted: Updated:
BALTIMORE -- A former major league baseball player who was a member of the 1983 world champion Baltimore Orioles has died in Arizona.
Authorities say Todd Cruz died Tuesday while swimming at the apartment complex in which he lived in Bullhead City.
The cause of death is pending results of the Mohave County Medical Examiner's Office but authorities say foul play is not suspected.
The 52-year-old Cruz was an infielder who played with six major league teams from 1978 to 1984.
He was on the 1983 Orioles team that beat the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series in five games.
Cruz had a lifetime .220 batting average in 544 games. He had 336 hits, including 34 home runs, and finished with 154 RBIs.
Cruz is survived by a sister and two sons.
