Sheriff releases interview tapes with Co. Sup. Don Stapley

PHOENIX -- New details emerging on the investigation into Maricopa County Supervisor Don Stapley.

Tuesday afternoon the sheriff's department released its video taped interview with Stapley moments after one of its investigators delivered a copy of a grand jury indictment.

Stapley is accused of numerous criminal counts, including failure to include all his information on financial disclosure forms.

On the tapes, Stapley denies he's done anything wrong. The following quotes are exerpts from the tape. They are not in immediate chronolocigal order.

Don Stapley:

"All I can tell you Rich is that I disclosed everything. I've never had anything to hide. And I believe they're all disclosed in those filings if were was some clerical mistake why would the county attorney come to me and say we've looked at this and you probably ought to..."

Investigator:

"Sure I wish I could answer that but I can't I don't know."

Stapley:

"I will tell you Rich, I believe I'm innocent of any wrong doing"

Investigator:

"Ok"

Stapley:

"And we'll have to fight this through the courts I guess"

Investigator:

"Absolutely"

Stapley:

"I don't have any choice at this point, this will be a nightmare."
