Man suffers from heart condition, dementia

An elderly man who has been missing since July 3 has been found dead.

On Saturday, some hunters in the area of Black Canyon City contacted the Yavapai County Sheriff's Department after they found an elderly man deceased in his truck.

Phoenix police Detective Stacie Derge said the man has been identified as Joe Hebern.

The truck was parked in a creek bed under some trees in a remote area east of Black Canyon City.

Derge said a cause of death is undetermined, but it appears that it was likely due to exposure. It is not clear how he got to that area, why he was there, or exactly how long he had been there.

PHOENIX - An elderly man has been missing for days and concerns over his safety are growing.

The 84-year-old has not been seen since Thursday and police have come up empty-handed.

Joe Allen Hebern called his daughter from the area of Cave Creek Road and the 101 freeway and said he was on his way home but never arrived.

At the time he was driving a 1988 Ford Ranger truck with Arizona plates with a picture of a wheel chair followed by 9-D-Y-C.

Hebern has a heart condition and needs medications. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
