UPDATE: Bank robbery suspect turns himself in

UPDATE -- FRIDAY:

CHANDLER -- As a result of media coverage on September 18,2008, a sheriff's employee saw his picture and recognized him as a previous inmate. A citizen watching the news also recognized him.

A female acquaintance of the suspect saw him on the news and encouraged him to turn himself in. The suspect called Mesa police and was taken into custody.

The suspect was identified as a 36 year-old transient, Jose Luis Morales Jr.

CHANDLER -- Chandler police searching for a bank robbery suspect who robbed a Fry's bank Monday afternoon.

Chandler police said around 4:46 p.m. a male suspect entered the bank area and walked up to the teller demanding money. He told the teller not to activate the alarm and threatened with a weapon if he didn't following the instructions.

The suspect fled on foot with a unspecified amount of money.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, 165 pounds, medium build, wearing a white shirt, with blue elbow length sleeves with white stripes on the blue sleeves, blue jeans and black shoes.
