PHOENIX -- A Phoenix bishop was sentenced to 10 days in jail and three years' probation after being found guilty in a bell-ringing case.
Guilty of disturbing peace
Bishop guilty of disturing peace with church bells - Bishop Rick Painter was found guilty for disturbing the peace because he rings the bells each day on every hour.
Some neighbors near 29th Avenue and Greenway Road complained the bells at the Cathedral of Christ the King were too loud so they filed a noise complaint.
The judge sided with the neighbors and found Painter guilty of disturbing the peace.
The judge suspended Painter's jail sentence and set specific times when the bells can ring, the duration and decibel levels.
