Water main break floods Central Phoenix streetsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A water main break flooded streets in the area of Ninth Avenue near Pierce Street and another broken pipe was found later in the afternoon.
Up to 30 Phoenix residents were without water due to the water main break.
Several streets are affected. Ninth, 10th, 11th and even 12th avenues are flooded and the neighborhood is a mess.
The water flowed from the neighborhood into Grand Avenue. While there was quite a bit of water along the road between Seventh and 15th avenues, it was not closed.
According to the city of Phoenix, a 20-inch water main broke at about 4:30 a.m. Video showed water bubbling up into the street.
Once the water was turned off, some of the water receded in the neighborhood. Crews on the scene were working to pump out the remaining water. A good deal of standing water also remained along Grand.
While there were no reports of water damaging any homes, the early morning flood did give residents something to talk about.
Crews say they should have the problem fixed by Thursday night.
