CHANDLER -- Former Sunday School teacher Terry Greenwood pleaded guilty to one count of child molestation.

The judge set sentencing for Sept. 24.

Under the plea agreement, the other counts will be dismissed at sentencing.

CHANDLER -- A Sunday school teacher stands accused of abusing a five-year-old girl left in his care.

Police say the man admitted to the sex crime, but claimed it wasn't entirely his fault.

Chandler police say as heinous as this crime is, at least one more young girl has come forward accusing Terry Greenwood, 62, of molestation and that the teacher admits this wasn't the first time he's tried it.

In a place expected to be full of faith, investigators say it was the trust of parents and a little girl that was abused.

Chandler police arrested Greenwood for allegedly molesting the Sunday school student and say Greenwood was her teacher at Chandler United Methodist Church.

According to a police report, Greenwood "unzipped his pants and made her do oral sex with him during Sunday school."

The report said the girl told her mother she had sexual contact with Greenwood on 4 or 5 occasions and along with investigators, the mother called and confronted him.

It goes on, "he told her he did make a mistake and was ashamed of it. Terry tried to explain he did this because of the medication he was on for high blood pressure and maybe he has mental problems."

At Greenwood's home in a gated Chandler neighborhood no one answered the door and at the church only a voicemail picked up.

The report concludes saying Greenwood claims "he would be very angry if someone did this to his own children. But he knew he could take advantage of the girl because of her age, she trusted him, and she would not tell because she was always so quiet."

Greenwood is charged with four counts of child molestation, one count of sexual conduct with a minor and indecent exposure.

He can not bond out of jail.

His first hearing is scheduled for tomorrow, meanwhile, Chandler police say they are still investigating Greenwood for sexual misconduct with other children and may bring more charges soon.

Greenwood, who is a maintenance worker for Paradise Bakery, has no criminal record in Maricopa County.
