Arizona to play 18 of first 21 games at home next seasonPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks' 2009 schedule is out and it's a little quirky.
The D-backs play 18 of their first 21 games at home, an imbalance caused by the team's insistence on opening the season at Chase Field for the first time in four years.
Team president Derrick Hall says the original draft of the schedule had Arizona opening at Colorado, but the D-backs got the site reversed.
Arizona will open against the Rockies on April 6th and Hall says it's likely to be a day game.
However, the D-backs will play two home series in the first 2 1/2 weeks against the Rockies because they were unable to switch an April 20-22 series to Coors Field.
Arizona will play 35 of their final 59 games on the road and starting July 31, the D-backs play 26 of 35 games on the road while hitting all four time zones.
