2 Injured in head-on wreck that shut down Phoenix street

PHOENIX_- Two people were rushed to the hospital after a serious early morning wreck that closed eastbound Union Hills Drive at 23rd Avenue Thursday morning.

It happened shortly before 6 a.m.

According to police, a person was heading west tried to turn into an apartment complex at 23rd Avenue and Union Hills Drive.

That person slammed head-on into an eastbound vehicle.

Firefighters had to cut through at least one of the vehicles.

Both drivers were rushed to the hospital.

Police shut down eastbound Union Hills, as well as the eastbound off ramp from Interstate 17 to Union Hills, while they conducted their investigation.
