MESA -- A suspect with a rifle robbed a Jack in the Box drive-thru window early Sunday morning, according to the Mesa Police Department.

Detective Michael Melendez said the male suspect drove up to the drive-thru window near Stapley and University drives at approximately 3:30 a.m. and pointed a rifle at the employee.

Melendez said the suspect demanded the money from the register and drop boxes. The employee put the money in a paper bag and gave it to the suspect.

The suspect left in an older model, two-door, white Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix that was described as very dirty.

The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt pulled down over his face, a black bandana over his mouth and black sunglasses.
