PHOENIX - A homeless man is being hailed a hero tonight after he jumped into a canal to rescue someone who fell in.

It happened at 24th Street and Cambridge just south of Thomas on Friday. A Phoenix Fire spokesperson says Greyson Malzac was near the water when he saw someone fall in across the street and get swept under the bridge. The victim is disabled and fell in along with his wheelchair.

Malzac was able to get him to the side of the canal where he was pulled out and taken to the hospital.
