Mom of boy found at bus stop charged with child abusePosted: Updated:
GLENDALE -- A Glendale mother accused of abandoning her 8-year-old son at a Valley bus stop is facing charges of child abuse.
According to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, Carolyn Bartlett takes prescriptions drugs to treat a mental illness.
On Aug. 14, Bartlett, 40, made the dangerous mistake mixing that medication with alcohol, which caused her to black out. That's when she left her son Tommy at the bus stop.
When Bartlett didn't return, a concerned citizen called the police.
The little boy was not able to give officers his address or phone because he said he had just moved here from California.
Police arrested Bartlett on Aug. 15.
