Baby, 2 adults killed when semi truck T-bones car - Three people, including a 1-year-old girl, are dead after a wreck between a car and a semi truck.
It happened Sunday afternoon at 51st Avenue and Van Buren Street. Police said the semi T-boned a white Cadillac.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found four people trapped inside the mid-size sedan. A 1-year-old girl and a 33-year-old woman in the front passenger seat were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said the baby girl was strapped into a car seat in the back passenger seat, but the crash was so severe that it didn't help.
The 19-year-old male driver of the car and the 20-year-old woman sitting behind him both suffered critical injuries. Firefighters said they had to rip the roof and a door off the car to get to those victims.
Both were taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center where the man later died. The woman remains in critical condition.
It's not clear if any of the adult victims was wearing a seat belt.
The truck driver walked away with minor injuries.
Detective Cindy Scott of the Phoenix Police Department said investigators have determined that the driver of the semi failed to stop at a traffic light. Scott said the 59-year-old was not impaired at the time of the wreck.
At this point, no charged have been filed against that driver.
Scott said the investigation is ongoing.
