Flagstaff man arrested for assaulting deputyPosted: Updated:
FLAGSTAFF - The following is a release from Coconino County Sheriff's Office:
On Wednesday September 10, 2008, 32 year old Amado Gonzalez was arrested for one count of Aggravated Assault on Coconino County Sheriff's Deputy Glen Isbell, one count of Domestic Violence, one count of Disorderly Conduct, three counts of Threatening and Intimidating, one count of Residential Trespass, one count of Felony Criminal Damage and one count of Residential Burglary.
Emergency Communication Specialist of the Northern Arizona Regional 911 Center received a report of a fight in progress in the 7000 block of Rainbow Ranch Road. Information received indicated that an adult male smashed the windshield of a vehicle belonging to one of his neighbors with a large stick. Upon the deputy's arrival he observed a suspect later identified as Amado Gonzalez initially run from him and then turn and run aggressively at the deputy with a large farming sickle raised in the air in a threatening manner.
Deputy Isbell exited his vehicle, drew his service weapon and ordered the armed suspect to drop his weapon. The suspect immediately complied with the deputie's commands, to drop his weapon and fall to the ground. The deputy approached the suspect and safely took him into custody.
Upon further investigation deputies learned that Mr. Gonzalez allegedly damaged his neighbor's vehicle and the front door of his neighbor's residence as a result of an ongoing neighborhood dispute. Following his arrest Mr. Gonzalez was transported to the Coconino County Detention Facility where he is being held on a $65,000 cash bond.
