UPDATE: Man arrested for armed robberies in Peoria, Glendale

PEORIA -- Police arrested a man suspected in several armed robberies.

Ernest Jaramillo, 27, was arrested Thursday afternoon in an ACE Cash Express store in west Phoenix during an attempted armed robbery.

The clerk recognized the suspect from previously reported incidents so she activated the alarm and locked the suspect in the lobby until Phoenix police officers arrived.

Peoria Police Violent Crimes Unit detectives took custody of the suspect and booked him on multiple counts of armed robbery.


PEORIA -- On Monday, January 19th at 4:30 pm the suspect entered the ACE Check Express at 8520 W. Peoria wearing clothing similar to a UPS driver and carrying a box. He was allowed into the office area at which time he produced a knife, demanded money from the safe and after getting a large amount of money he fled the store. He was seen by witnesses running west to the apartment complex to the west of the strip mall and entering a small red SUV that left west on Peoria Avenue. The clerk was not injured in the incident.

The attached photos are from a business in Glendale, where the suspect (DHL uniform) attempted a robbery approximately 45 minutes prior to the Peoria incident and another Glendale robbery where the suspect was successful in obtaining cash.

PEORIA - Police say a man dressed like a UPS driver robbed a Cash Express store at knifepoint on Monday.

The man walked into the store near 83rd and Peoria avenues and demanded cash.

Police say the suspect got away with about $50,000.

He was last seen heading west on Peoria Avenue in a red SUV.
