Suspect in Surprise McDonald's armed robbery on the loose

SURPRISE -- Police are on the lookout for the man who robbed a Surprise McDonald's Sunday night.

It happened at 8:30 p.m. at the restaurant on Litchfield Road near Waddell Road.

According to Sgt. Mark Ortega of the Surprise Police Department, the man pulled out a handgun as he approached a cashier and then demanded cash from her register.

Nobody was injured in the incident, by the suspect did get away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Ortega said police believe there is surveillance video of the suspect, but it was not immediately available.

The suspect is described as an Hispanic man in his mid 40s. He's about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build. He has black hair and was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, a multi-colored plaid short-sleeved shirt over a white T-shirt, blues pants and white shoes.
