Police find missing 22-y.o. Goodyear man deadPosted: Updated:
UPDATE: Police have located the body of Maxwell deceased. An investigation into his death is underway, but police said there appears to be no foul play.
ORIGINAL: GOODYEAR - Police in Goodyear are still looking for 22-year-old Matthew Maxwell.
He was last seen at about 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24 in the area near S. 55th Avenue and W. Baseline Street in Phoenix.
He was believed to be going to see his mother in Goodyear but never arrived. Police say Maxwell may be armed with a Smith & Wesson .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol.
At about 10 p.m. on Thursday Matthews's credit card was used at a Quick Trip convenience store located in Tolleson at 83rd Avenue and Van Buren.
The car he was driving, a 2003 gray Dodge Neon, was found abandoned on Sunday, September 28 at the river bottom near the Gila River Indian Community near S. 91st Ave. Police report the gun was not found inside the car.
Maxwell stands at about 6'2" tall and weighs about 315 pounds. He has brown eyes and hair and has a scar on his elbow. He was last seen wearing black pants, a white dress shirt, a black vest and black dress shoes.
