Police release names of adults killed in apparent murder-suicidePosted: Updated:
SCOTTSDALE -- A Scottsdale neighborhood is reeling after a family of four -- including two young children -- was found dead inside their rented home, the victims of an apparent murder-suicide.
2 kids, 2 adults found dead in Scottsdale home - Police are calling the deaths of two adults and two kids a murder-suicide in Scottsdale.
According to neighbors, a husband and wife rented the home near 91st Street and Thunderbird Road, living there with their 3-year-old and 7-year-old boys.
Police were called in by family members Thursday afternoon to do a welfare check because nobody had heard from either the adults or the kids in several days.
When officers arrived at the home, they saw newspapers piled up in the front driveway. In addition, the home's blinds were closed. Once inside the house, police found the foursome. The man, woman and boys had been shot to death.
Investigators believe the man pulled the trigger, shooting the woman and kids before turning the gun on himself.
Police have not yet been able to determine exactly when this all happened, but say that the bodies had been in the home for a number of days prior to police arrival.
The man has been identified as Russell Gilman, 48, and the female is believed to be his wife, Stacey, however positive identification is pending an autopsy. She is believed to be 45 years old.
Officers said they did find a gun and a note in the house. They have not released the contents of that note.
Those who live in the area say that while the family kept mostly to themselves, the community is quite friendly. One neighbor said she was surprised that the family didn't reach out to somebody.
