Three arrested for assaulting two men in TempePosted: Updated:
TEMPE - The following is a press release from the Tempe Police Department:
On September 12th, 2008 at approximately 01:00 AM, Graham Stanley (22) and Nick Deeds (23) were brutally assaulted by three male suspects in the area of Laguna and Butte in Tempe.During this attack the suspects removed both the victims' wallets, which included their identification and credit cards.The suspects also removed six dollars in cash and a cell phone.The removal of the victims' property occurred after they were rendered incapacitated.The suspects also continued the assault by kicking the victims when they were down.
Though no weapons were used, Stanley sustained serious injuries.Deeds sustained several broken bones during the attack.Forensic evidence was obtained at the crime scene by Tempe Police Detectives.Tempe Police Detectives worked day and night on this investigation and were able to develop information leading to the identification of the suspects in this incident.The three suspects in
this incident were identified as Jovi Lemusu (11-15-89), Sunia Tukia (02-01-90) and Gavin Lemusu (04-05-88).Upon being contacted by Tempe Police Detectives, all three suspects admitted involvement in this incident and were placed under arrest.
Prior to the attack, the previously mentioned suspects were in a 1997 Jeep Cherokee driven by Amber Van Dine (01-13-88).Van Dine has been contacted by Tempe Police Detectives and will be booked into jail on one count of theft of a credit card.
Information provided to Police Detectives indicated that robbery was not the motive for the attack.It was clear in speaking with the suspects that aggression was the motive. Both victims are recovering from the incident.
Jovi Lemusu (11-15-89), Sunia Tukia (02-01-90) and Gavin Lemusu (04-05-88) were booked into Tempe City Jail and each of them were charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault (A class 3 felony) and two counts of Aggravated Robbery (A class 3 Felony)
