Body found in West Phoenix canalPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Divers from the Phoenix Police Department recovered a body from a West Phoenix canal Friday morning.
The body was found near 63rd Avenue and Sonora Street, which is south of Buckeye Road, about 7:45 a.m.
According to Detective Cindy Scott, a man was riding his bike to work along the canal when he saw what appeared to be a body stuck in the irrigation ditch and called 911.
Phoenix police say the body is that of an Hispanic man, approximately 30 to 40 years old.
According to investigators, there are not any visible signs of trauma and the cause of death is unknown.
Scott said the medical examiner is expected to complete their investigation Monday.>
