UA to fill 3 dean positions despite hiring freezePosted: Updated:
TUCSON -- The University of Arizona plans to fill three dean positions despite a hiring freeze announced by the university president.
Vice president of human resources Allison Vaillancourt said Monday that searches are ongoing for deans to oversee the colleges of Nursing, Medicine and Medicine-Phoenix. She says those positions will be filled this year.
Last week, university President Robert Shelton announced that all state and locally funded hiring would be frozen until the next fiscal year, which begins July 1.
Vaillancourt says the exceptions for medical and nursing college deans are unusual.
