Crews battle fire by Pinnacle Peak Patio - Several people had to be evacuated Tuesday morning after a propane tank fire near a Scottsdale restaurant.
As many as 50 firefighters from Scottsdale and Phoenix responded to a working fire at the rear of a property belonging to the Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse near Jomax and Pima roads.
Tiffani Nichols with the Scottsdale Fire Department said the fire involved an older two-bedroom home that was occupied at the time by a maintenance worker and his family.
The fire also impacted two adjacent propane tanks. The tanks' pressure relief valves were activated by the heat and allowed the stored propane fuel to safely burn off.
There was extensive damage to the home from the structural fire.
Nichols said a nearby health club and some homes and other businesses were evacuated as a precaution.
The restaurant, which has been around for more than 50 years, was open on Tuesday.
No one was hurt.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause.
