The fire started at about 2 p.m. at Richardson's restaurant at 16th Street and Bethany Home Road and spread through the attic.

Approximately 80 firefighters were on-scene.

The restaurant was destroyed and fire crews were trying to protect the surrounding businesses.

Everyone was evacuated before the fire got out of control.

Richardson's is in a strip mall that was undergoing renovations.

The restaurant owner blames the roofing company for the blaze. He said the company sprayed roofing foam on top of his air-conditioning unit on the roof and he said that is what caused the fire. However, that has not been confirmed by a fire investigator.

The intersection was shut down.
