Dead body found in burned SUV in Surprise

SURPRISE -- A body was found after a car fire was put out in the northwest Valley late Tuesday night.

Firefighters were called out to a Safeway gas station at Loop 303 and Bell Road around 11p.m.

Details are still sketchy, but police said customers saw flames shooting from the SUV and called 911. The vehicle was parked next to a gas pump.

The Surprise Fire Department responded. After the fire was out, emergency personnel found the body of a woman in the passenger side of the vehicle. So far, the body has not been identified.

It's not clear yet if the fire is what killed the person.
