Dedication ceremony on 1-yr. anniversary of crash

PHOENIX - A ceremony was held Sunday to dedicate a monument and remember four friends 3TV lost one year ago.

A plaque that now makes up the memorial at Steele Indian School Park reads, "On July 27, 2007 at 12:46 p.m. two local news helicopters collided over Steele Indian School Park. Four television journalists lost their lives."

A helicopter crash above the park took the life of 3TV Photographer Jim Cox and pilot Scott Bowerbank, along with Channel 15's photographer Rick Krolak and pilot Craig Smith.

The City of Phoenix donated the location for the sanctuary and a committee came up with its design.

Family and friends placed flowers beneath each picture and familiar faces mourned.

Everyone at 3TV is touched by the tribute to our fallen co-workers.
