PAYSON - The U.S. Marshals Service says they've arrested a man who had been on the run for nearly 30 years for a fatal stabbing in Ohio.

Marshals spokesman Matt Hershey said Tuesday that a fugitive task force took 55-year-old Ronald Stahlman into custody in the mountain town of Payson northeast of Phoenix.

Hershey says Stahlman was a member of the Outlaws motorcycle gang when he and other members assaulted a man in Warren, Ohio and Stahlman stabbed him several times. He fled Ohio shortly after an arrest warrant for homicide was issued in 1979.

Stahlman's wife and two young children joined him in the Phoenix area, where they lived assumed names for many years before moving to Payson. He and his wife were in their home when deputy marshals made the arrest on Monday morning.
