Semi carrying sugar goes up in flames near Bullhead CityPosted: Updated:
BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. -- A tractor trailer carrying sugar went up in flames on Highway 68 in Bullhead City Sunday afternoon.
According to the Bullhead City Fire Department, the trailer was fully engulfed and the flames were spreading to the semi-truck cab when firefighters arrived shortly after 3 p.m.
It took firefighters 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
Westbound traffic on Highway 68 was closed for approximately two hours due to the fire and the cleaning of the streets from all the caramelized sugar.
There is no word as to the cause of the fire.
A separate traffic accident occurred prior to crews arriving that involved two vehicles right next to the trailer.
One of the vehicles fled the scene.
One person suffered a minor inury in the collision.
