Meeting set to discuss cuts

SCOTTSDALE -- The deadline is approaching for local teachers to receive notification if they'll have a job next school year.

The Scottsdale Unified School District is holding a meeting Tuesday night to discuss those changes.

Union President Eric Kurland estimates that 10 percent of staff will be cut, which adds up to 220 teachers and around 30 administrative personnel.

Student programs will also likely disappear.

The meeting is at 5:30 p.m. at the Scottsdale Unified School District Education Center at 44th Street and Indianola Avenue.
