PICTURE ROCKS -- The following is a press release from the Arizona Department of Public Safety:
Detectives from the Counter Narcotics Alliance close down an Elaborate Hydroponic Marijuana Operation in the Picture Rocks area
Following several months of investigation, on Jan. 23, 2009, Detectives from the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), assigned to the Counter Narcotics Alliance (CNA), a multi agency drug task force operating in Pima County, served a search warrant on a residence in the 7000 block of North Pelto Path. This residence is located in the Picture Rocks area of Pima County (northwest of Tucson, Ariz.)
Detectives dismantled an elaborate, indoor hydroponic marijuana growing operation, seizing over 800 marijuana plants, weighing over 120 pounds. The marijuana has a street value of $72,000.00. The detectives also seized tens of thousands of dollars worth of hydroponic equipment from the residence which had been entirely remodeled inside to accommodate the growing operation. The outside of the house gave the appearance of a standard home.
Robert Bolanos, 49, from Tucson, Ariz. was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail on the charges of:
A.R.S. 13-3405.A2: Production of marijuana
A.R.S. 13-3405.A3: Possession of marijuana for sale
A.R.S. 13-3415.A: Possession of drug paraphernalia
The DPS Detectives were assisted by personnel from the Pima County Sheriff's Office, the Tucson Police Department, and the Marana Police Department.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety is proud to be a part of the Counter Narcotics Alliance in the joint effort to disrupt and dismantle the criminal organizations that grow, manufacture, transport, and sell illegal drugs. The primary goal of this multi-agency law enforcement effort is to make the communities of Arizona, and across the United States, safer places to live.
