MLB All-Star game set to come to Phoenix in 2011Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks will host the 2011 Major League Baseball All-Star game.
Commisioner Bud Selig made the announcement Saturday at Chase Field.
He says the team's persistence and the presentation of their bid won them the game.
A slew of All-Star events for fans will take place at the Phoenix Convention Center from July 8 - 12, with the 82nd All-Star Game set for the last day.
It was just a few months ago that the NBA All-Star Game took over town and brought in $35 million to Downtown Phoenix.
The MLB All-Star game is projected to offer an economic boost of $60 million.
