Infant had suspicious facial injuries

UPDATE from Prescott Valley Police:

PRESCOTT - On February 25th at approximately 5:50 P.M. Vaughn Denz surrendered himself to authorities at the Prescott Valley Police Department.

Denz was sought by Police for an incident where his son received serious injuries while in his care and custody.

Denz was arrested on his warrant for 2 counts of felony child abuse and 2 counts of felony aggravated assault.

Denz will be booked at the Yavapai County Jail.

The following news release was sent by the Prescott Valley Police Dept.:

On February 22nd at approximately 1014 hours the Prescott Valley Police responded to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center's East Campus for a report of possible child abuse.

A 5 month old child was brought to the hospital with facial injuries.A further medical investigation showed the child had possible skull fractures.He was sent to the Phoenix Children's Hospital for further treatment.

The child was found to have severe injuries that were not consistent with the reported story surrounding the alleged accidental injury. The child's injuries consisted of multiple skull fractures, internal injuries as well as facial injuries.He is still being treated for those injuries.

Prescott Valley Police Detectives attempted to speak to the victim's father, 23 year old Vaughn Miles Denz, of Prescott Valley. Denz was supposed to be heading to the hospital to see his child.It was found later that he did not go there and was missing. He has not been located and is believed to be on the run.

Vaughn is described as a white male 5'8" tall weighing 170 pounds.He has brown eyes and black hair. A felony warrant has been issued for his arrest with a $100,000.00 bond.

Police want members of the public with information on his whereabouts to call police or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
