Former teammate Terry Porter says he is shocked by Kevin Duckworth's deathPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- Phoenix Suns head coach Terry Porter says he was shocked to hear about the death of his former Portland Trailblazers teammate, Kevin Duckworth.
The 44-year-old Duckworth died while on a trip to the Oregon Coast to host a free basketball clinic.
Porter says Duckworth had battled a weight problem recently, but he doesn't know if the former center was dealing with any serious health issues.
Porter learned of Duckworth's death Tuesday morning when another former teammate, Jerome Kersey, called him.
Porter says he'll remember Duckworth as a 'jokester' and a 'big loving teddy bear' who never had a mean streak.
