Sierra Vista woman sentenced for sex with boy in group homePosted: Updated:
TUCSON -- A Sierra Vista woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for having sex with a boy at a group home.
Twenty-four-year-old Denise Diane Philpott must register as a sex offender, participate in counseling for sex offenders and get mental health treatment.
A news release says Philpott was employed as a behavioral health technician at a group home for boys that her mother owns in Sierra Vista.
The sentence is the result of an investigation that began in 2006.
Authorities said she engaged in sexual conduct with one of the boys who lived there and on June 14, 2006, picked him up and left Arizona.
Philpott, the boy and her own children were found less than two weeks later in the Midwest.
Philpott admitted taking the boy across state lines to engage in sexual conduct.
